The NSM Satellite combines the reliability of NSM jukeboxes with a modular design. The Satellite has a capacity of 60 to 135 CDs and can be fitted with up to four drives. To prevent an accidental removal of packs, iXOS-JUKEMAN will lock the appropriate keys, while the jukebox is attached. This behavior can be configured with the server parameter satdpb (see "Dynamic parameters" on page 125). In Satellite jukeboxes that do not have a mailslot, CDs can only be changed, while the jukebox is not attached.
For NSM Mercury and Satellite jukeboxes with Plextor drives, iXOS-JUKEMAN supports accelerated insertion of CDs. To use this feature, enter an additional line "ftoc=<file name>" in the device description file. The server will use this file to store information normally read in the first few seconds after a CD is inserted into a drive. If the same CD is inserted into the same drive at a later time, the server will send this information to the drive, so the drive will not need to read it from the CD. The drive will be ready to read data a few seconds earlier, and the clients accordingly will get the data a few seconds earlier.
