3.1 Introduction

iXOS-JUKEMAN must be set up before you can start and use the software. The following sections will tell you about:
* Setting up license keys. This section may be skipped if you have no license keys and want to run the software in demo mode. A test license is available which removes the restrictions of the demo mode. See http://www.jukeman.com.
* Setting up caches and buffers. Setting up a directory cache will improve the overall performance of the server. Setting up this cache pays off as soon as a new jukebox is attached to the server.
* Setting up the WORM file system. An optional WORM file system may be set up by system integrators.
* Setting up devices. This sections tells you how to configure device description files which allow you to access the disks in your jukeboxes, and drives.
* Setting up views. Here you learn how to set up the presentation of the iXOS-JUKEMAN file system. By default iXOS-JUKEMAN sets up two views, which export all disks in both PC format and Rock Ridge format.
* Integrating iXOS-JUKEMAN into the network. This section describes how to set up both the server side and the client side of iXOS-JUKEMAN, allowing all clients to access the disks they need.

There are two ways the set-up can be performed:
1. With the GUI on Windows NT. The administration client must be started. This can be done from the NT "Start" menu ([START]-[PROGRAMS]-[IXOS-JUKEMAN]-IXOS-JUKEMAN ADMIN CLIENT or by running "jukeboy.exe" from the JUKEMAN directory). The corresponding sections are entitled GUI.
2. By editing configuration files on Windows NT and UNIX. Sections with this set-up method are entitled CLI (Command Line Interface). The configuration files can all be found in the JUKEMAN directory.

Both methods are equivalent. Any differences will be noted in the text.
